About Ambrose Locksmith & Key

Second homes, vacation rentals, seasonal businesses and the cars of everyone visiting them: that's the work Ambrose Locksmith & Key does in Myrtle Beach, SC.

What we see most

Vacation rentals and second homes make up a big part of the work, along with car keys lost on the beach or the golf course, and businesses that open for the season and need their keys brought up to date.

Second homes and rentals

Many houses and condos along the Grand Strand are rented by the week. Keys go out with guests and cleaners and don't always come back, and keypad codes get shared further than anyone meant. Out-of-town owners can authorize a rekey or a code change in writing, and a property manager can let the technician in.

Visitors and lost keys

Golf trips, beach days and long weekends are when car keys go missing. For most cars, a replacement key or fob gets made where the car is parked, once you show the registration or rental agreement and an ID. If the key disappeared at a resort or a course, tell us which one.

Businesses that open for the season

Shops, restaurants and rental offices that close for part of the year often come back to a lock that seized, a key nobody can find, or a staff list that has changed. A walk-through before opening day, with rekeys where needed, avoids a surprise on the first busy weekend.

Salt, sand and humidity

Oceanfront doors take a beating. Cylinders corrode, sliders fill with sand and wooden doors swell. Servicing a lock before it fails is simpler than a lockout in August, and a slider that latches properly again is usually a one-visit repair.

How a visit works

Tell us your location and the trouble, and expect a call from the technician on the approach. They inspect first, explain what they found and put a free estimate on the table. The work waits for your decision.

Rules that don't change

Nobody gets into a house or car through us without proving it's theirs. A lock that just needs rekeying stays on the door. And we never publish ways around a lock.

Owner and visitor questions

I own a rental but live out of state. Can you rekey it?

Yes. Send written authorization and arrange access through your manager or a lockbox.

The keypad on our rental quit between guests.

Usually a battery or a changed code. It's checked first and reset on site, with new codes set for the next guests.

I lost my car key on the golf course.

Tell us the course and the car. With your ID and the registration or rental agreement, a new key can be made where you're parked.

Can you check our locks before we open for the season?

Yes. A walk-through and any needed rekeys can be scheduled before opening day.

Do you give free estimates?

We do. You'll hear what it takes before anyone starts.
